I decided that I should model being transparent with you about what it’s like going from a business idea I’ve had for a while, to a (hopefully) highly profitable business empire over the next 5 years. It’s also important for us to build rapport since you might be a potential future client <smile emoji>.
My initial feelings: While there is alot of uncertainty at the initiation stages of any effort (be it launching a business or launching a new software application), there is also plenty of opportunity and a deep desire to accomplish something great. Quite simply, I want to change the world, through operational excellence. Is it possible? Yes. I believe it is. You might be wondering how I can be so confident. Well, how do you professionally say ” I am good at figuring things out”?, and I’m a natural problem solver.
As with any endeavour, I start with the end. I need to be clear on what my goal is. How will I define success? What is my definition of ‘done’? What is the minimum viable milestone? What are the parameters and boundaries? Once these fundamentals are clear and captured, the planning can take place.
Off we Go! Given the goal, what are the tactical steps that will bring me closer to it? How should I time-box these things? What resources will I need? As I’m getting those lined up, I am getting excited and pumped for the real-work towards the first milestone. Launch the website.
I am very aware that starting something new is not always going to be smooth sailing, however we’ve got a destination, a route and the know how, so I hope you enjoy this journey with me.
